1. Organic certification
If a product has an international organic certification such as Ecocert, you can be sure that it is genuine and meets high standards. However, counterfeit products may also include the logo. In that case, please check with the manufacturer or check their official website.

2. Type of container
Argan oil and prickly pear oil are generally packaged in dark glass bottles, such as black or brown, to protect them from light and heat and prevent oxidation and deterioration. Products in clear or plastic containers should be avoided as they are more susceptible to deterioration. The color that is least transparent to light is black.

3. Country of Origin
Argan oil must be sourced from Morocco, so check the label on your product.

4. Ingredients
The ingredient list for pure argan oil should only list "Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil. "
Pure prickly pear oil's ingredients label should only list "Opuntia Ficus-Indica Seed Oil."
However, some products have been diluted with other cheaper oils (such as sunflower oil or lower quality olive oil) to falsify the ingredients list.

5. Smell
Pure argan oil has a distinctive nutty scent.
Pure prickly pear oil has a distinct herbal scent, but the scent dissipates quickly after penetrating the skin.
Products with a strong, unpleasant or chemical smell should be avoided.

6. Texture <br data-mce-fragment="1">Argan oil and prickly pear oil are smooth and slightly sticky, but after a while they are absorbed into the skin. Oils that are as thin as water or very viscous are suspicious. As they are unrefined, argan oil is a pale golden yellow, while prickly pear oil is a pale greenish color. Be careful with transparent oils, as they are refined oils and have almost no beauty benefits.
